1. Ring Resizing:

Ring resizing is the process of making a ring larger or smaller to fit the wearer’s finger. It involves either adding or removing metal, depending on whether the size needs to be increased or decreased.

: To make a ring bigger, a jeweler will cut the band and add extra metal to achieve the desired size. Afterward, the ring is shaped back into a circle and polished to restore its appearance.

: If a ring needs to be made smaller, the jeweler will remove a section of the band, join the ends, and resize the ring. Again, it’s then polished to finish the job.

2. Re-shanking:

Re-shanking is the process of replacing or repairing the band of a ring, particularly when the shank (the lower part of the ring that wraps around the finger) has become worn down, cracked, or damaged.

Both procedures require skill and precision to ensure the ring retains its original beauty and structural integrity. Have you been thinking about resizing or re-shanking a ring? If so, what kind of ring are you working with?
